Abstract

Drama is an ancient performing art. From the time of Kalidasa to present modern plays of Mahesh Dattani the plays have been very effective medium in dealing with mythological, historical and social themes. After the advent of British in India, in the th 19 century, Indian community got exposed to theatre companies of England. As a result, our own 'drama, companies' were formed to enact Indian experiences and to narrate our own tales.
